PARENT – SCHOOL COMPACT
2006 - 2007
·
Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and
effective learning environment to include interventions and remediation as
appropriate.
·
Conduct scheduled parent/guardian-teacher conferences on a regular
basis as well as an “as needed” basis.
·
Send purple folders with correspondence home daily for K-2 and on
Tuesdays for grades 3–8. Sign and send
agendas home with assignments recorded daily.
·
Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress.
·
Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their
child’s class and to observe classroom activities as well as provide reasonable
access to staff for consultation.
·
Participate actively in your child’s education by monitoring homework
assignments. Read and sign agenda daily; check purple folder for correspondence
and respond in a timely fashion. Read
with your child, praise and encourage your child.
·
Ensure that schoolwork has a top priority by monitoring television
viewing time, computer time and participation in out-of-school activities.
·
Ensure that your child has proper nutrition that includes a balanced
diet with meats, fruits and vegetables and limit sugary snacks and drinks. Ensure that your child has adequate rest by
getting at least 8 hours of sleep daily.
·
Participate in school-parent involvement activities and insofar as
possible volunteer in the classroom or for after school events.
·
Be responsive to requests for communication with teachers and
administrators.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF
STUDENTS:
·
Attend school daily with pens, pencils, paper and other necessary tools
for learning.
·
Finish all assignments (class and homework) on time.
·
Obey school and classroom rules and respect teachers, classmates and
administrators.
·
Deliver purple folders, signed agendas, papers and memos between school
and home promptly.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF
PRINCIPAL:
·
Provide an environment that encourages respect for all and allows for
positive communication between the teacher, parent/guardian and student.
·
Encourage teachers to regularly provide homework assignments that will
reinforce classroom instruction.
·
Encourage students to communicate with teachers and parents and request
assistance as needed for completing assignments on time.
·
Encourage parents to actively participate in their child’s education by
attending parent – teacher conferences and parent involvement activities.
